Keew, Lord of Mouseovers

"In the beginning there were Graphics…"

I wish I could claim credit, but those mouseovers weren’t my idea. They were suggested by The Mighty Cindy — one of the more imaginative pilots I know. And they’ve been a terrific amount of fun! But I cannot help but wonder how many people have discovered them. I also cannot help but wonder how many people have…

1) Found all 20 verses of the First Book of Keew.

2) Found the Mouseover of Good and Evil.

3) Found the Mouseover of Life.

The latter may be somewhat tricky to locate, but it is most certainly hidden in that image map… somewhere…

I love the mouseovers; I look for them in every webcomic I look at, but few are as entertaining as FC’s. Of course I found the First Book of Keew; I don’t remember where I saw it for the first time, but Keew 1:8 is my signature on the forum. Until then I didn’t know you could mouse over different parts of a graphic and get different results. Verrrry interesting!

There are all manner of clever tools to install different mouseovers on different parts of a graphic, but I’m too cheap to buy any, so I did the whole thing by hand. Whew! Debugging the result, making sure there weren’t any gaps, and making sure the regions didn’t overlap, was the very devil, so I decided not to do this for the story itself… though I must confess I was strongly tempted to have different mouseovers for the Fleming and Abigail in the graphic for Episode 67 :)

BTW, there are different mouseovers for the Derby and Daring vs Donald and Daffy sides of the ‘Animated Ducks’ graphic on the Extras page.

One of these days I’ll have to do pages for New Grunswich, Seldonia, Murchis, and Western Deld…
